About Anouk

I’m Anouk Lorie, a journalist, meditation teacher, author and mother of three, living in Tel Aviv. I host RAW with Anouk, a podcast born from a need to understand what we’re living through and how it shapes us.

A letter from Anouk

I started RAW after October 7 because I needed help making sense of what we were living through. As a journalist, I wanted to ask questions. As a mother raising three children in Tel Aviv, those questions were also coming home with me.

Many of my conversations have been with psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists working with trauma, including those supporting children, couples and returning hostages. I wanted to understand what prolonged fear and grief do to us, how they enter our relationships, and what helps us care for ourselves and one another.

Other conversations explore identity, belonging, polarization and the difficult moral questions that life in Israel brings. I’m interested in voices that help us see more clearly, including when they complicate what we thought we knew.

Journalism and meditation shape how I approach this work: asking questions, listening closely, noticing my own assumptions and resisting the urge to arrive at an easy answer. This is what I mean by contemplative journalism.

Alongside the interviews, I share writing and guided meditations, sometimes drawing on poetry and visualization. These practices grow out of the same lived experience, and a wish to offer moments of relief, reflection and connection.

My hope is that you find something here that helps you feel understood, gives you a different perspective, or offers some support for whatever you’re carrying.

About me

My background spans journalism, education and contemplative practice. I founded NoCamels, a publication covering Israeli innovation, and led the Asper Institute for New Media Diplomacy at Reichman University from 2011 to 2024, where I also taught journalism. My work has been published by CNN, TIME magazine and the Financial Times.

I hold a BA in Law from King’s College London and an MA in Journalism from City University, London. I completed the two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) and am also a certified yoga teacher, though I don’t currently teach yoga.

I’m the author of The Stardust Elves, an illustrated book of poetry for parents and children. Originally from Belgium, I live in Tel Aviv with my husband and our three children.

Explore what I offer—from podcast episodes to meditations and live events—all rooted in resilience, reflection, and presence.

Deep, honest conversations on the emotional and ethical challenges of the Israel–Gaza war, Jewish identity, and staying human in the face of conflict.
